Luton Debate Competition at The Stockwood Park Academy
The Stockwood Park Academy's First KS4 vs KS5 Debate Competition
On Tuesday, October 7th, Thte Stockwood Park Academy, in Luton, hosted its inaugural KS4 vs KS5 debate competition, featuring an exciting face-off between Year 11 and Year 12 students. Miss Khan and Miss Khabir organised the event.
The Motion:
"This house believes it is better for Year 11 students to stay in our Sixth Form rather than leave for other post-16 options."
Year 12 represented the House, arguing in favour of the statement, while Year 11 took the role of the opposition, arguing against it. The debate served as a testament to the power of respectful discourse, highlighting that arguments can be both entertaining and educational.
Speakers from each team rose to the challenge, captivating an audience that included students from both key stages and staff members. Attendees enjoyed popcorn, pizza, and other delicious treats throughout the event. After the intense rounds, staff members in attendance cast their votes for the best overall team and the best speaker from both sides. It was a challenging decision, reflecting the high calibre of talent displayed.
